Good Faith Estimate Notice
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

Duration & Frequency of Treatment
There are many factors considered when estimating the duration of treatment, frequency of sessions, and type of service(s) provided. These factors include the client’s goals, availability, and financial limits, as well as the therapist’s ongoing assessment of the client and progress in the treatment plan.
The examples below are intended to help you get an idea of the financial expectations for a defined period of time. The frequency, duration, and type of services depend on your individual needs and goals.
Examples of a Good Faith Estimate
Weekly individual 55-minute sessions ($145) for 50 weeks (leaving 2 weeks off during the year): $7,250
Weekly individual 75-minute sessions ($215) for 50 weeks (leaving 2 weeks off during the year): $10,750
Weekly group sessions ($65) for 12 weeks: $780
Weekly group sessions ($65) for 12 weeks, then weekly individual 55-minute sessions ($145) for 38 weeks (50 weeks total): $6,290
What About Diagnosis?
The Good Faith Estimate (GFE) requires a diagnosis to be included, which means I will provide a diagnosis for each client after the first 1-3 sessions. Before our first session, I will provide a preliminary GFE. After completing our initial assessment, setting goals, and establishing a treatment plan, I will provide you with an updated GFE which will display your diagnosis code. Diagnosis can bring up some tricky feelings, assumptions, and fears. These feelings are completely normal and understandable. My intention around diagnosis is to clearly communicate with you and have an open and ongoing conversation about it. If you have questions at any point in treatment regarding diagnosis, I invite you to share them with me.
When to Expect your Good Faith Estimate
I will provide you with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) within 1-3 business days of scheduling your appointment. Specifically…
If you schedule a session 10 business days in advance, I will provide your GFE within 3 business days.
If you schedule a session 3-9 business days in advance, I will provide your GFE within 1 business day.
If you have not scheduled a session but would like a GFE to help you make decisions about treatment options, I will provide it within 3 business days.
Keep in mind that your most recent GFE is valid for up to 12 months. Meaning, you will not receive a new GFE for each session.
